Watch for new ways of hacking your social media accounts and email spammers!

Recently received an email from an old high school friend living in Europe telling me he is deactivating his Facebook account because several of his friends have had their accounts hacked.  Be very careful about who you communicate with and be cautious with the links in various wall posts.

Security firms also discourage you from adding all those fun “apps” like “Secret Admirer” which can have spyware attached.

Also I’ve noticed recently that the sender names and email subject lines have gotten more clever, fooling me into thinking that they are from a real person.

Examples:
From Sherry, re:  order status.

From:  John, re:  meeting time

From:  Postmaster
re:  undeliverable mail.

Never click through a link from an unknown sender!

What I Learned on my Summer Vacation.

Just got home from a lovely week in Maine, visiting Lake Sebago and Ogunquit.

speedboatAte lobster and blueberries in many different incarnations and sorry, I can ‘t find any way to link my sincere appreciation of Down East food to Internet marketing.

Did get a little inspiration that I’ll share and let me highly recommend to all of you:  take a week away from your everyday routine to get refreshed, re-energized and get perspective on your life and your business.

Enjoy the last bit of summer!
Deborah

Chased by the waves in Ogunquit
amy beach On the whole Southern Coast of Maine, there is about two miles of family-friendly white sand beach.  We ventured out to Ogunquit Beach on a not too cloudy Tuesday afternoon.

The surprisingly wide beach was covered with holiday-makers, spread out on acres of wavy sand reaching out to the water line.

We set up camp close to the water.  The Atlantic wasn’t too cold or rough.  Even my non-swimming hubby waded in the low, shallow water with very gentle waves.

Not ten minutes there and we had to pick up our stuff and move it further inland.  The
tide was rising…quickly!  We moved our gear up five feet.  Ten minutes later: another five feet.  Within half an hour, every single person was up by the rocks near the parking lot, huddled together on a narrow band of dry land with the water lapping at our toes.

If we’d stayed put, we’d be under a foot of water.  My philosophical self connected this to Internet Marketing.  What?

When you do Internet marketing for your business, you can’t stay put.  If you put your towel down, the tide will just wash you away.  You’ve got to keep an eye on the always-moving water line and adjust accordingly.  Of course, you could remain huddled on the rocks, but what fun is that?  Dive right in. Be bold, just always keep moving and don’t get all wet.
