What do you NOT know?
You know what I mean…something you are “supposed” to know but…you just don’t. For me…I don’t understand the difference in grammar usage of “bring” and “take.” I must have been absent that day when they explained it.
What are the gaps in your knowledge? How can you fill them? Some thoughts and suggestions for you this month.
Hope you are enjoying your fall! Deborah

How come they didn’t require Ancient History?
Back in the 70’s, educators thought they were improving the curriculum of my high school by loosening academic requirements. So somehow, I slipped through the system on college-track without ever learning Ancient History, Modern History, Mythology, Physics or Wood Shop. (But I can make a mean white sauce, ah the joys of Home Ec.)
As I’ve been helping my middle-schooler with her homework, I’m catching up on some of those knowledge gaps. She goes to a better school than I did!
Got me thinking how much we DON’T know about our own business.
Starting or running a business doesn’t have pre-requisites. Many of us don’t have any formal business education. There is no set of course recommendations, no teachers making sure you learn all the things you need. So is it really a surprise that we all have these knowledge gaps?
Even if the education isn’t “required,” wouldn’t you be better at this if you knew a little bit more? Figure out what you need to get better at—whether it is marketing, managing your people, understanding your own financials, planning, computer skills. Whatever you Need to Know you can go out and get.

Want to be a guinea pig?
I’ve been hard at work on a new project with Libby Gill (a nationally-known expert on branding ) that we plan to debut in Spring 2010.
If your web
woes are getting the best of you, ask yourself the following questions. Does
your website…
- Deliver a clear and compelling
message?
- Establish instant credibility?
- Convey a powerful
call-to-action?
Is your
website…
- Integrated with a strategic
social media campaign?
- Aggressively building your
database?
- Consistent with your entire
brand image?
If you answered NO to even one
of those questions, your website isn’t doing its job. Sign up for the ONE-DAY
WEB MAKEOVER and put the WOW into your website in just six hours.
When we officially launch the program, we’ll be doing it large-scale—with up to 100 participants and a price tag of $200 or so.
But we need to test it first! So we’ve developed the whole program including a guest tech guru and we’ve blocked out Thursday, December 10th at conference room in Encino: we’ll do the whole program with just ten participants. You’ll get one-on-one attention with us and be the first to benefit from this amazing class.
This is not a gimmick or a come-on. (I don’t do those!)
For $99, 10 people can join us on December 10th. Do you want one of the places? Details on the website. CLICK HERE TO REGISTER.
