Ever hear the saying “Two Steps Forward….One Step Back…”? Imagine if you didn’t have the power to go backwards! Yes, this is relevant to your business, too. Read on.
Plus, I am pleased to announce my new website and a bunch of great learning and networking opportunities.
Happy October!

| What if your car would not go in reverse? |
My across-the-street neighbors bought themselves a servicable used Audi a few years ago and recently it had to go in for some repairs. It was gone a week and looked good as new when it got back. Except. Except it wouldn’t go in reverse. Luckily their driveway has a little bit of a slant, so by putting it in neutral, they could let gravity “back” it out of the driveway. But for a few days, they parked on the street so they could always keep moving forward. Made it complicated to go to a shopping center. (Parking spots? Parallel parking? Gas station?)

Sometimes you just need to go backwards a little. Get a running start to move forward. Rethink a decision or two (yes, entrepreneurs are known to make a mistake or two)…and THEN move forward.
I recently met with a prospective client who was trying to decide if she should relocate her retail business. But when we got down to brass tacks, she admitted that switching to a different location probably wouldn’t change the fundamental economics of her business. But to consider closing the business entirely required going back a step in decision-making to ask these hard questions.
Give yourself permission to reverse if needed.
