I am writing this newsletter on the SIXTH snow day in Baltimore (another day off from school) so far this winter. Why isn't a snow day as fun as it used to be?
Also...an important reminder about backing up your files.

Remember when snow days meant fun and games?

As a kid growing up in central Connecticut, we loved the unexpected days off.
We woke up early and listened to the radio announce the closures (in alphabetical order, but luckily "Cheshire" was a "C" and came early on the list. )
My brother and I would play marathon games of Monopoly, punctuated by trips out to the Oxnard's hill to sled or into the backyard to work on our snowman. And if we started to get cabin fever, we'd go over to a neighbor's house or invite them to ours.
My daughter (see above) is in 12th grade and still enjoys a snow day.
For me: just another day in the office. In fact...it is a great day to get things done and to phone people who might otherwise be hard to reach. And since I can't get out to my appointments, it gives me a clear block of time to focus on project work that might otherwise sit untended to.
It can sometimes be a bracing reminder of your need for self-discipline when everyone else seems to be enjoying the time off, but for us entrepreneurs time is money and snow outside doesn't change that.
